WANGDUEPHODRANG

Wangduephodrang (pronounced Wangdi-fo-draang) a small town on the highway to Trongsa and Bumthang is well known for its fine bamboo work and stone carvings. Wangdue valley has rich pasturelands for cattle. The haunting sound of the wind produced by the deep gorge of the river provides an ideal backdrop for the beautiful, almost artificially created scenic beauty. It is at an altitude of 1800m and is 21 km from Punakha, the old capital of Bhutan.
